To operate the loft ladder, you need to lift it up and release it from the rack and pull the strap down. There are two push catches (under the second rung from the bottom) to release the ladder to open or shut. The loft ladder stands up a little in the loft when in use and this makes a handy grab rail when climbing up or down. The rubber feet make the ladder safe and non slip and they protect the floor from marking.
